UN, Israel in talks to deploy Starlink internet in Gaza amid security concerns
Discussions are ongoing regarding the deployment of Starlink satellites to the Gaza Strip, which has been the target of recent Israeli attacks.
According to Israel-based Walla News, the United Nations is negotiating with the Tel Aviv administration to provide internet service to Gaza.
Israel has been hesitant to agree to the U.N.’s request, arguing that internet service is crucial for the delivery of aid to Gaza.
However, Israeli officials are concerned that Hamas members could use Starlink to communicate more effectively.
The U.S. has urged Israel to comply with the U.N.’s demands. “We need to create an environment where U.N. personnel can work safely,” U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated.
