The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has thrown its support behind a major cultural project in Bosnia and Herzegovina aimed at promoting Ottoman-era historical landmarks and the country’s broader cultural wealth.

Launched under the auspices of Türkiye’s Embassy in Sarajevo and implemented at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS), the initiative—titled “In the Footsteps of Evliya Celebi: Ottoman Monuments in Bosnia and Herzegovina”—seeks “to highlight the region’s rich historical legacy through modern technology.

Digital production studio established

In a significant contribution, TIKA provided technical equipment to establish a state-of-the-art digital production workshop at IUS. This facility will enable the creation of high-quality digital content, showcasing key Ottoman monuments and cultural sites across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The project has received additional support from the Islamic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), Türkiye’s General Directorate of Foundations, and the Foundation for Strengthening Relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIGMEV).

Historic routes and informative content created

As part of the project, major Ottoman and cultural landmarks have been identified, with specially curated visitor routes designed to bring these locations to life for tourists and locals alike. Informative and promotional content has been carefully prepared for each site, offering historical insights and cultural context to enhance the visitor experience.

Launch of dedicated website to reach global audience

To maximize the project’s reach, a new website—www.evliyaninizindebosna.com—has been launched.

This platform offers digital access to the historic routes and detailed information on each cultural site, making the rich heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina easily accessible to a worldwide audience.

TIKA’s support powers digitalization and promotion

Thanks to TIKA’s contribution, the project outputs have been efficiently digitized, and promotional materials have been produced to support outreach activities.

Essential equipment was provided for the production of maps, t-shirts, mugs, souvenirs, and other branded items designed to raise awareness and foster interest in the region’s Ottoman heritage.
