Türkiye, Georgia and Azerbaijan sign tripartite agreement
The defense ministers of Türkiye, Georgia and Azerbaijan signed a Tripartite Agreement following the 11th Türkiye-Azerbaijan-Georgia Defense Ministers Meeting held in Batumi.
The meeting was attended by Türkiye’s Defense Minister Yasar Guler, Georgia’s Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani and Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister General Zakir Hasanov.
During the meeting, the three nations reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in defense and regional security.
Guler expressed his gratitude to his Georgian counterpart for the hospitality extended during the event and conveyed greetings from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the people of Georgia and Azerbaijan.
Support for independence, territorial integrity
In his remarks, Minister Guler emphasized the shared commitment to supporting Azerbaijan’s and Georgia’s independence and territorial integrity, stating: “We once again underlined our strong support for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and Georgia during the meeting.”
The three countries, which share deep historical ties, reiterated their intention to elevate cooperation across all fields.
Guler noted that their collective efforts contribute not only to the mutual benefit of the nations involved but also to the peace and stability of the Caucasus region.
Strategic importance of the Caucasus
Guler highlighted the strategic importance of the Caucasus for both regional and international security, stating: “The tripartite cooperation between Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Georgia serves the common interests of our nations and contributes significantly to peace and stability in the Caucasus. The synergy between our nations will pave the way for new partnerships and collaborations in the future.”
The defense ministers also discussed ways to strengthen military collaboration and explore new avenues for cooperation in the coming years.
Commitment to future cooperation
Following the signing of the Tripartite Agreement, Minister Guler expressed his satisfaction with the progress made during the meeting and extended his best wishes to the people of Azerbaijan and Georgia.
“I wish health and prosperity to the brotherly people of Azerbaijan and Georgia, and I once again salute you with respect,” Guler concluded.
