Turkish national shot dead in Athens as police hunt for perpetrators
A 39-year-old man, reportedly a Turkish national, was shot dead in the Kypseli neighborhood of central Athens on Tuesday evening and a passerby was injured during the incident.
The shooting occurred shortly after 8 p.m. local time at the intersection of Lesvou and Patision streets.
Police sources suggest the victim was parking his car when a vehicle with two individuals approached and opened fire, fatally wounding him.
Authorities recovered nine shell casings and have launched an ongoing search to locate and apprehend the perpetrators.
The Athen’s Homicide and Property Crime Unit of the Organized Crime Division is handling the preliminary investigation.
Meanwhile, identity of the Turkish citizen has not yet been released.
