Truck rams into bus stop in central Israel, multiple casualties reported
A truck hits a bus stop at a major intersection in central Israel on Sunday, leaving multiple dead and several injured, according to Israeli police.
Early reports from local media suggest that at least 26 individuals were injured in the incident.
Israeli Medics are responding to reports of multiple injuries at Glilot Junction in central Israel after a truck reportedly rammed into a bus stop. The exact details are still under investigation.
There are unconfirmed reports the person who was driving the vehicle is an Israeli citizen.
According to the latest reports, Israeli medics and paramedics evacuated 35 wounded people to the hospitals. Six were in serious condition, five were in moderate condition, 20 were in mild condition, and four were anxiety victims.
Casualties are expected to rise.
Israel police have confirmed that numerous officers are en route to the scene near Cinema City Glilot, where the truck struck people waiting at a bus stop. According to emergency services, around 40 people have been injured, with 10 reported to be in serious condition.
Magen David Adom (MDA) has released images from the scene, showing the scale of the incident and the ongoing response efforts.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
Police say that the truck driver who rammed into people at a bus stop outside the IDF’s Glilot Base in central Israel was shot and “eliminated” by armed civilians in the area.
“At 10:08 a.m. (0808 GMT), a report was received… of a truck hitting a bus stop on Aharon Yariv Boulevard in Ramat Hasharon… Paramedics are currently providing medical treatment on-site to dozens of casualties,” the Magen David Adom service said in a statement. Police confirmed multiple injuries.
