Terrorist organization PKK declares ‘cease-fire’ following call from Imrali

The terrorist organization PKK announced a cease-fire on Saturday, stating that it fully agrees with the contents of a letter from its ringleader, Abdullah Ocalan, who called on the group to lay down arms and disband.
PKK announces cease-fire across all fronts
The PKK’s so-called executive board released a statement confirming the cease-fire, emphasizing that the group will adhere to Ocalan’s call.
“The PKK’s executive board has officially declared a cease-fire against Türkiye across all battlefronts,” the statement read.
The announcement follows a letter from Ocalan, who has been imprisoned since 1999, urging the organization to end its armed activities. The statement outlines that the PKK will no longer engage in attacks, requests a secure environment to conduct a meeting and asked for Ocalan to be a guide that meeting. It remains to be seen how the unfolding events will develop.

PKK seeks direct negotiations
In addition to the cease-fire, perhaps most significantly, the terrorist organization PKK has announced its intention to engage in direct negotiations, emphasizing that Abdullah Ocalan must oversee the extraordinary congress he previously called for.
The terrorist group did not elaborate on the conditions or framework for such talks, but stressed Ocalan’s pivotal role in the process.

Imrali foot traffic of DEM Party delegation
Türkiye’s Ministry of Justice had approved the country’s second-largest opposition party, the Kurdish-oriented Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party’s (DEM Party), request to visit imprisoned PKK ringleader Abdullah Ocalan in Imrali Island prison for the third time this week.
The delegation included prominent members of the party, including DEM Party co-chairs Tulay Hatimogullari and Tuncer Bakirhan, as well as deputies Ahmet Turk, Cengiz Cicek, Faik Ozgur Erol, Sirri Sureyya Onder and Pervin Buldan.
On Friday, Feb. 27, a written message from Ocalan was read publicly by the delegation. The message issued was a highly anticipated statement on Thursday, calling for an end to armed conflict. Ocalan called for the PKK to lay down arms and end fighting against the state of Türkiye.
