Syria’s 5.5-magnitude earthquake felt from 5 nations, including Türkiye
A 5.5-magnitude earthquake in Syria’s Hama region was felt across Türkiye’s southern provinces, including Hatay and Gaziantep, late Monday night.
Reports suggested that the quake was felt across many regions in the Middle East, particularly Syria, Türkiye, Lebanon, Jordan and Israel.
According to information from Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the earthquake occurred at approximately 11:56 p.m. local time. The quake, which struck at a depth of 19 kilometers, sent tremors through parts of southern Türkiye, leading to concern among residents.
The tremors prompted many in Hatay and Gaziantep to leave their homes and gather in the streets. The region, already on edge from previous seismic activity, experienced a brief period of anxiety as people reacted to the latest quake. No immediate reports of damage or casualties have been released.
