Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa in Türkiye
Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani arrived in Türkiye on Tuesday for the first official visit to Ankara, marking the new Syrian administration’s second diplomatic trip abroad.
The visit follows Sharaa’s first foreign trip to Saudi Arabia.
The plane carrying Syrian Transitional President Ahmed al-Sharaa who was announced to come to Türkiye for a meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, landed at Ankara Esenboga Airport.
The plane carrying Syrian Transitional President Ahmed al-Sharaa, who took office after the overthrow of the 61-year Baathist regime in Syria, landed at Ankara Esenboga Airport at around 16:00 local time.
Meeting between President Erdogan and Ahmed al-Sharaa started
Al-Sharaa, who travelled to the Presidential Complex in Bestepe with the security convoy accompanying him, will hold a meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
During the meeting, issues related to the new era in post-regime Syria will be discussed.
The meeting between the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmed al-Sharaa, and the President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has reportedly begun.
He is scheduled to hold talks with President Erdogan, attend a working dinner with delegations, and participate in a joint press conference at the Presidential Complex.
The meeting was closed to the press as of 17.00 (local time) at the Presidential Complex.
On the other hand, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s wife Emine Erdogan met with Latifa al-Daroubi, the wife of Mr Sharaa.
