Syrian National Army reinforces positions against PKK/YPG near Tel Rifaat
The Syrian National Army (SNA) has intensified its efforts in northern Syria, dispatching reinforcements to counter the PKK/YPG, designated as a terrorist organization by Türkiye. Military convoys carrying SNA personnel and equipment have reportedly moved from Azaz to the rural areas of Tel Rifaat.
Local sources indicate escalating tensions in the region, as battles between the Assad regime and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a prominent armed group, continue in the Aleppo countryside. HTS forces are reported to have advanced to within one kilometer of Aleppo city.
The ongoing conflict between Assad regime forces and opposition groups remains intense in both Aleppo and Idlib provinces. Fighting initially erupted early yesterday in western Aleppo’s countryside and persisted throughout the day.
Opposition fighters claimed significant gains, taking control of 32 villages and strategic points west of Aleppo. Their advances extended into today, with 24 additional locations reportedly falling under their control across Aleppo and Idlib provinces.
Opposition forces have captured a substantial amount of heavy weaponry, military vehicles, and ammunition depots from Assad regime forces. The clashes have resulted in heavy casualties for the regime, with dozens of soldiers killed and many taken prisoner.
The situation remains fluid, with no immediate signs of de-escalation as various factions continue vying for control in northern Syria.
