At least ten people were killed in a shooting at a cafe in Bajice, on the outskirts of Montenegrin capital Cetinje, after a fight broke out, the Montenegrin Police Directorate confirmed.

The suspect “took the lives of at least 10 people, two of whom were minors” who were the children of the restaurant owner, who was also killed, Montenegro’s Interior Minister Danilo Saranovic told journalists.

“Today, there were fatalities in a shooting carried out by 45-year-old A.M. with a firearm at a bar in Bajice, a district of Cetinje. The assailant left the bar with his weapon and fled the scene,” Montenegrin police detailed in a statement.

Meanwhile, Cetinje police urged residents of Cetinje to “remain calm and stay inside their homes,” as all available police units were deployed to the area to control the situation and apprehend the perpetrator.

Minors reportedly among victims

Authorities emphasized that the incident was not related to a confrontation between criminal groups.

Initial reports suggest that several people at the cafe became involved in a physical altercation before gunshots were fired.

Meanwhile, two of the victims were minors in the shooting that reportedly erupted due to a fight that broke out at the bar.
