Retired Israeli generals propose plan for forcible evacuation of Palestinians
A plan to forcibly displace Palestinians from the northern Gaza Strip has reportedly been drafted by retired Israeli generals and presented to the government. According to the Israeli news site Ynet, the plan aims to compel Palestinians to leave Gaza, followed by a siege that would force Gazans to choose between “death or surrender.”
The proposal includes designating the Netzarim Corridor, which separates the north and south of Gaza, and all neighborhoods as closed military zones.
The initiative was led by retired Gen. Giora Eiland, former head of the operations division of the Israeli military, with contributions from dozens of other former high-ranking officers and generals.
Those who prepared the plan claim that the steps will be in accordance with international law, as civilians will be allowed to evacuate the conflict zone before the siege.
The plan was reportedly presented to the government a few days ago by the Commanders and Reserve Officers Forum, which includes retired generals. Eiland also stated that the plan could be repeated in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, and other regions.
