President Aliyev on Turkic world: ‘Leveraging our potential for global power’
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the importance of enhancing and unifying the Turkic world during a meeting on Thursday with high-ranking parliamentary officials from the Organization of Turkic States.
Aliyev underscored Azerbaijan’s dedication to strengthening ties with Turkic states as a central aspect of its foreign policy agenda. He held discussions with parliamentary representatives from Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), and Hungary.
Highlighting the vast potential of the Turkic world, including transportation routes, energy resources, human capital, and a growing population, Aliyev emphasized the necessity of leveraging this potential to become a global power through collective efforts. He expressed confidence that this unity would be reinforced through practical measures.
Aliyev proposed that future consultations with the Organization of Turkic States could address global challenges, suggesting that this unity seeks to defend everyone’s rights and promote mutual interests without posing a threat to others.
Recognizing the TRNC’s historical and cultural ties with the Turkic world, Aliyev highlighted Azerbaijan’s active diplomatic support for its full membership in the Organization of Turkic States.
