PKK drone strikes on Peshmerga in Duhok threaten regional stability: Iraqi KRG

The Iraqi KRG Security Council has condemned two drone attacks carried out by the PKK terrorist organization targeting Peshmerga forces in Duhok’s Amedi district, warning that these actions are aimed at undermining peace efforts and stability in the region.
In a statement released Monday, the Iraqi KRG Security Council reported that militants from the PKK terrorist organization launched two separate drone attacks using explosive-laden unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) against Peshmerga positions over the past two days. Five Peshmerga personnel were injured.
The council noted that all injured fighters are in stable condition. The statement also emphasized the timing of the attacks, citing Türkiye’s ongoing domestic peace process and efforts to form a new government within the KRG.
“Certain groups and parties are seeking to sabotage peace and stability in the region,” the statement read.
The council condemned the terrorist attacks and issued a warning to any group threatening the security of the KRG, affirming that authorities are “prepared to respond appropriately to any form of destructive action.”
According to information obtained by the Anadolu Agency, the PKK terrorist group targeted Peshmerga units in Duhok’s Amedi district in two separate drone strikes, injuring five fighters.
