Palestinian resistance group Hamas, via social media, has refuted the authenticity of a video circulating online in which an individual threatens fatal attacks in Paris during Israel’s participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The group claims that the video is an Israeli fabrication.

Hamas Political Bureau Member Izzat al-Rishq stated in a written announcement, “Accounts linked to Israel have published a fake video attributed to Palestinian resistance, containing death threats against the occupying forces participating in the Olympic Games.”

Al-Rishq emphasized that these images are part of Israel’s propaganda campaign aimed at tarnishing the image of the Palestinian resistance. He called for support of the boycott against Israel, which he accused of waging a genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.

The video in question features a person with their face covered by a Palestinian keffiyeh and wearing a shirt with the Palestinian flag. Speaking in poor Arabic with a discernible foreign accent, the person in the video said:

Our struggle against the Zionist regime (Israel) continues. The French people and President (Emmanuel) Macron, you have supported the Zionist regime’s brutal war against the Palestinian people. You invited the Zionists to the Olympic Games, and you will pay the price. Rivers of blood will flow in the streets of Paris.

The video concludes with the individual holding up a bloody severed head of a toy.

Israel has announced its participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, set to be hosted by France from July 26.

Since Oct. 7, Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip have resulted in the deaths of at least 39,090 Palestinians, including 16,172 children and 10,798 women, with 90,147 individuals injured. Reports indicate that thousands of bodies remain trapped under rubble, and hospitals and educational institutions, where civilians have sought refuge, have been targeted, causing significant damage to civilian infrastructure.
