Over 120 Erbil merchants sue PKK for arson attacks
In Erbil city, over 120 merchants have filed lawsuits against PKK terrorist organization memberswho set fire to marketplaces, resulting in extensive damage to businesses.
Erbil Governor Nebez Abdulhamid revealed the details about the fires ignited by PKK terrorists, which led to the burning of hundreds of shops and substantial financial losses.
Abdulhamid stated, “To date, more than 120 merchants from Lenge and Kayseri markets have initiated legal actions against the PKK for the arson of shops and business premises.”
Earlier, merchants at Erbil’s Kayseri Bazaar had called for capital punishment for the PKK members responsible for the arson.
Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesperson Mikdad Miri al-Musevi previously announced on July 1st that PKK members were responsible for recent fires in Kirkuk, Erbil, and Duhok. Musevi mentioned that those apprehended had admitted planning further arson attacks in other regions.
Hemin Mirani, Director General of the Interior Ministry’s Divan in the Kurdistan Region, disclosed that individuals affiliated with the KYB’s Anti-Terrorism Service and Peshmerga military units were involved in the fires in Kirkuk, Erbil, and Duhok.
However, Sadi Ahmed Pire, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), clarified that his party had no association with PKK members detained for recent arson incidents in Iraq.
