Organization of Turkic States celebrate 15th anniversary

The Turkic world commemorated the 15th anniversary of the Nakhichevan Agreement, which established the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) on Oct. 3. This milestone also marked Turkic States Cooperation Day.
The burgeoning alliance of Turkic Eurasian states comprises Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan as full members. Hungary, Turkmenistan, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus participate as observer states.
The Organization of Turkic States is an intergovernmental body dedicated to strengthening ties and integration among Turkic-speaking nations. The OTS aims to enhance collaboration across 30 areas, encompassing political, economic, cultural and educational spheres.
In a significant development in early September, OTS members agreed to adopt a joint Turkic alphabet. This standardized alphabet, expected to be implemented by all members in the near future, will expand the number of letters from the current 29 to 34.
Celebrating the day, OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev wrote, “I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the Heads of State, Foreign Ministers, and all the institutions of our Member States and Observers for their unwavering commitment to enhancing cooperation under the OTS roof.”
