Negotiations for cease-fire in Gaza stalled
The weeklong negotiations for a cease-fire in Gaza, held in Doha and Cairo, have been stalled due to a disagreement over the Philadelphi Corridor between Egypt and Israel.
As a result, Hamas’ demands, including the exchange of prisoners, a permanent cease-fire in Gaza, and the establishment of a Palestinian state, have not even been brought to the table.
According to obtained information, Israel’s refusal to fully withdraw from the Philadelphi Corridor, despite Egypt’s firm demand, has undermined the possibility of reaching an agreement.
The Philadelphia Corridor is recognized as a buffer zone between Cairo and Tel Aviv under the Camp David Accords signed in 1979.
