Kosovo security force soldiers receive sniper training from Turkish instructors
Turkish forces stationed under NATO’s peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, known as KFOR, have provided sniper training to soldiers of the Kosovo Security Force (FSK).
The training, aimed at enhancing FSK’s operational capacities, was delivered by instructors from the Turkish Armed Forces, according to a statement shared on FSK’s social media platform.
The FSK, established in 2009 to manage crisis operations, civil defense, and responses to natural disasters and emergencies, began a transformation into armed forces in 2018 under legal amendments. This transition is expected to span a decade.
Turkish troops, who have been part of KFOR since 1999, have played a significant role in supporting the FSK’s development into an armed force.
The FSK’s military inventory also includes a significant number of Turkish-made products.
In addition, Kosovo’s government signed an agreement with Türkiye’s state-owned enterprise, Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE), in December 2024 to establish a factory for producing ammunition of various calibers.
