Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar have agreed to strengthen bilateral relations between their countries.

Musar, on her first official visit to Kazakhstan, was welcomed with a formal ceremony at the Akorda Presidential Palace in Astana. The leaders held both private and extended discussions before addressing the press.

Details

Diplomatic ties: Slovenia is considered an important partner for Kazakhstan within the EU. The opening of Kazakhstan’s embassy in Ljubljana last year reinforced this relationship.

Economic cooperation: Agreements were reached to expand collaboration in:

  • Mining
  • Green energy
  • Nuclear industry
  • Digitalization and innovation
  • Healthcare and tourism

Trade and logistics: Both sides agreed to explore integrating Slovenia’s Luka Koper port into the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor to enhance regional connectivity.

What’s next

A joint declaration was signed, along with cooperation agreements in education, tourism, and trade.

Musar emphasized that this visit opens a new chapter in bilateral relations, based on shared values of international law, sustainable development, and mutual respect.

Further discussions and collaborations are expected in the coming months to implement these agreements effectively.
