Jordan’s King Abdullah II has accepted an invitation to visit the White House for talks with U.S. President Donald Trump later this month, the royal palace announced on Sunday.

“King Abdullah II will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, after His Majesty received an invitation letter from President Trump last week,” the royal palace said in a statement.

The meeting follows Trump’s suggestion that Jordan and Egypt take in Palestinians from Gaza.

Arab nations reject Trump’s Gaza displacement plan

Trump last weekend suggested that Palestinians in Gaza be relocated to Jordan and Egypt, describing the enclave as a “demolition site” after Israel’s war. The proposal was strongly rejected by both Amman and Cairo.

On Saturday, a six-nation Arab ministerial meeting in Cairo firmly rejected any displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and reiterated calls for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Last week, King Abdullah spoke with President Trump by phone, emphasizing the crucial role of the U.S. in achieving peace and stability in the Middle East.
