Israeli PM Netanyahu faces protests during visit to Golan Heights
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faced protests during his visit to the town of Majdal Shams in the occupied Golan Heights, where a rocket strike killed 12 people. Netanyahu’s visit, under heavy security, came after the deadly attack on July 27.
In a social media statement, Netanyahu declared that the attack would not be overlooked and promised a “harsh response.”
However, locals gathered to protest against Netanyahu, chanting “murderer,” “get out,” and “he’s our enemy.”
On July 27, a rocket hit a football field in Majdal Shams, killing 12 people, including children, and injuring 35 others, 17 of them critically.
The Israeli military claimed that, based on their intelligence and assessments, the rocket was fired from north of the Shebaa area in southern Lebanon, holding Hezbollah responsible.
Hezbollah denied any involvement in the attack, stating they had no connection to the incident.
Following the attack, Israel’s Security Cabinet assigned Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant the task of determining the timing and nature of the response to Hezbollah.
