Israeli opposition is urging the government to sign a ceasefire agreement that includes a prisoner exchange, citing the nearly eleven-month-long conflict in Gaza as a path leading the country to disaster.

In a statement on X, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid addressed supporters of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, declaring, “You are accomplices to the greatest disaster in the country’s history.”

Lapid also reminded state officials, saying, “You swore an oath of loyalty to the state, not to Netanyahu. Remember that.”

He further appealed to Netanyahu’s coalition partners:

For the sake of the families and soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces, you must demand a hostage agreement. If it does not happen, you must make it clear that you cannot continue to be a part of this coalition.
