Israeli delegation heads to Cairo for cease-fire talks despite Hezbollah tensions
The Israeli delegation will head to Cairo on Sunday morning despite ongoing tensions with Lebanese Hezbollah.
The delegation aims to participate in negotiations for a prisoner exchange and a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.
The team includes Mossad Director David Barnea and Shin Bet Chief Ronen Bar.
Despite the current tensions, Barnea and Bar will be traveling to Cairo later today (Aug.25).
Alongside Barnea and Bar, the talks in Cairo are expected to include CIA Director William Burns, Egyptian Intelligence Chief Abbas Kamil and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
Earlier today, the Israeli army announced a “preemptive strike” against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Hezbollah had previously announced retaliatory attacks in response to the assassination of its senior commander Fuad Shukur on July 30.
