The Israeli army confirmed Wednesday evening that the rocket attack alert near the settlement of Sderot was a “false alarm.”

Earlier, sirens had sounded, allegedly due to a rocket fire from Gaza, just hours after reports of a cease-fire and hostage swap deal between Israel and Hamas.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, the Israeli army clarified that the alert was due to a “false identification,” and there was no immediate threat.

Hamas, Israel reach Gaza cease-fire

Earlier, Qatari PM and Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman announced the success of mediators in reaching a cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip, noting that its implementation will begin this Sunday.

The first phase of the agreement will last for 42 days and involve the release of 33 Israeli detainees in exchange for an unspecified number of Palestinian prisoners.

Bin Abdulrahman emphasized that Qatar, Egypt, and the United States will ensure the implementation of the agreement and monitor its execution to prevent violations.
