Israel’s Security Cabinet convened for several hours Sunday night to discuss a potential second military strike on Iran, prompted by a drone attack that targeted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Caesarea residence on Oct. 19, according to Israel’s Channel 13.

The drone, launched from Lebanon, struck a bedroom window, but neither Netanyahu nor his family were present at the time, Israeli media reported.

During the meeting, security officials informed Cabinet ministers that Israel’s recent response to Iran did not include retaliation for the drone strike, suggesting the possibility of further action. The Cabinet reviewed several potential responses, with a decision anticipated soon, Channel 13 reported.

Israel strikes Iran’s military facilities

In a separate operation early Saturday, Israeli forces conducted a four-hour strike against Iranian targets, reportedly focusing on Iran’s missile production facilities and air defense systems.

Israel’s security establishment expects Iran to respond but believes Tehran has yet to finalize its course of action. According to Channel 13, Iran may also be contemplating external attacks as part of its response, possibly following discussions with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In related news, Israel faces challenges in countering Hezbollah’s drones, which have inflicted injuries and casualties among Israeli forces.

Regional tensions have intensified due to Israel’s military offensive in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in over 43,000 fatalities, predominantly women and children, following a Hamas attack last year.

The conflict has also spread to Lebanon, with Israeli strikes leading to more than 2,700 deaths and over 12,500 injuries since last year, according to Lebanese health authorities.

Despite international warnings of an impending regional war amid Israel’s sustained attacks on Gaza and Lebanon, Tel Aviv expanded its military operations on Oct. 1 by launching a ground assault into southern Lebanon.
