Israel launches airstrike on Hezbollah facility in southern Beirut

Despite a ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, Israel has launched an airstrike targeting a Hezbollah building in southern Beirut on Sunday.
This comes after an earlier threat from an Israeli spokesperson, who claimed the strike hit a significant military target belonging to the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group.
Israel, which has been responsible for extensive destruction in Gaza, began its invasion of Lebanon citing the presence of Hezbollah forces as a reason. A ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah was declared on November 27 following a series of targeted assassinations, including that of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
However, despite this ceasefire, Israel resumed its strikes today.
Israeli Army spokesperson Avichay Adraee issued a warning, stating that a building in the Hades neighborhood of southern Beirut would be targeted. He claimed the building housed a Hezbollah facility and urged residents to evacuate surrounding buildings.
Following Adraee’s warning, residents in the affected area were advised to leave immediately, and warning shots were fired into the air to clear the zone.

Israel targets Hezbollah military facility
Israeli drones fired small rockets in southern Beirut as a preliminary warning, before launching an airstrike on a building thought to contain Hezbollah’s weapons depot.
A large cloud of black smoke was seen rising from the Dahiyeh district in southern Beirut following the attack.
‘Significant military equipment targeted’
Israeli sources confirmed the attack, stating that the target was a Hezbollah depot containing important military equipment. Israeli media reported that the primary target of the strike was missiles stored at the location.
The strike follows Israel’s most recent attack on southern Beirut on April 1, which resulted in three deaths. After the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon was agreed upon on November 27, Israeli warplanes first bombed Beirut on March 28.
Lebanese Information Minister Paul Markus stated on April 17 that Israel had violated the ceasefire agreement 2,740 times since its implementation. During this period, Israeli attacks on Lebanon have resulted in 190 fatalities and 485 injuries.
