As part of the sixth round of hostage exchanges between Hamas and Israel, 369 Palestinian prisoners were released.

The prisoners were handed over to the Red Cross from Ofer Military Prison in the occupied West Bank and Ketziot Prison in southern Israel.

Crowds gathered in Ramallah to welcome the released prisoners while Israeli forces conducted raids in Beitunia, Jenin, and Tulkarem.

Why it matters

This marks the largest prisoner release in the ongoing ceasefire agreement. The exchanges remain a key factor in negotiations between Israel and Hamas. However, tensions persist, as Israel has reportedly warned Palestinian families against celebrating the releases.
