The Israeli military has confirmed its involvement in airstrikes on Syria’s capital, Damascus, Monday, specifically targeting the intelligence headquarters of Hezbollah’s Syrian branch.

In a statement, the military reported that its air force executed an aerial operation against what it described as “Hezbollah terror targets,” emphasizing that these sites were integral to Hezbollah’s intelligence gathering and assessment operations.

According to the Syrian state news agency SANA, the strikes occurred around 6:05 PM local time, with Israel reportedly targeting multiple locations in southern Damascus.

The agency noted that Syria’s air defense systems intercepted missiles launched from the Golan Heights, claiming to have successfully shot down most incoming projectiles. However, the attack resulted in material damage.

Israel has maintained a strategy of periodic strikes against Iranian-backed groups and Syrian military installations since the civil war began in 2011, aiming to counteract the influence of these entities in the region.
