Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shiya al-Sudani held a phone conversation with Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara to extend his greetings for Ramadan Bayram, also known as Eid al-Fitr.

According to a written statement from the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Press Office, Sudani congratulated the Syrian people on the formation of their new government and emphasized that Iraq stands with the Syrian people, stressing that Syria’s political process must be inclusive of all factions.

Sudani also highlighted the importance of Syria and the broader region achieving a secure and stable future.

Reaffirming Iraq’s rejection of Israel’s violations of Syrian territory, Sudani expressed Iraq’s full support for Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Furthermore, the Iraqi prime minister pointed out the necessity of increasing cooperation in the fight against the Daesh terrorist group and underscored the need to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries in line with mutual interests.
