Iraq grants visa-free entry to Turkish citizens under 15, over 50
The Iraqi government has announced a visa exemption for Turkish citizens under 15 and over 50, allowing them to enter Iraq without a visa.
The decision, made during an Iraqi Cabinet meeting, was shared through a statement by the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Press Office.
Under the new regulation, Turkish citizens with ordinary passports in these age groups will be allowed entry into Iraq without a visa.
Upon arrival at Iraqi airports and border crossings, their passports will be stamped, granting them a stay of up to 30 days.
Reciprocal agreement for Iraqi citizens
This decision mirrors a previous agreement granting Iraqi citizens under 15 and over 50 visa-free entry to Türkiye. The decision is expected to bolster cross-border interactions, with Türkiye anticipating an increase in travel from Iraq, particularly for family visits and business-related activities.
The visa exemption applies to Turkish citizens holding ordinary passports and is limited to those under 15 and over 50 years old.
These individuals can enter Iraq through designated airports and border crossings, where their passports will be stamped with an entry mark, allowing them a 30-day stay.
This move comes as a result of ongoing negotiations between Türkiye and Iraq, solidified during President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Baghdad earlier this year.
The visa exemption aims to strengthen ties between the two neighboring countries, facilitating easier travel for certain Iraqi citizens.
