Iran’s FM expresses concerns over regional tensions
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that there are shared concerns about the potential spread of war in the region due to Israel‘s aggression, emphasizing that diplomatic efforts are ongoing to prevent the situation from escalating further.
Speaking to the press in Istanbul during the third meeting of the South Caucasus Regional Cooperation Platform, Araghchi highlighted that the gathering demonstrates the determination of regional countries to discuss and coordinate solutions for the issues facing the Caucasus.
He remarked, “We must ensure that regional issues are resolved peacefully and that security and political arrangements bring peace and stability to the area.”
Addressing Israel’s actions in the region, the Iranian minister noted, “There are now common concerns regarding the likelihood of war spreading and the situation of refugees. The purpose of our diplomatic activities is to manage this situation and prevent rising tensions.”
Araghchi also expressed his appreciation for the strong relations between Iran and Türkiye, stating, “We have always maintained good relations with Türkiye. During this visit, I will also meet with the President and Foreign Minister of Türkiye. Consultations will take place on regional matters.”
