Iran boosts PKK/YPG support with intelligence training in Iraq, Syria
Iran has significantly escalated its support for the terrorist organization PKK, and its Syrian wing YPG, in Northern Iraq and Syria, by now providing intelligence training.
According to regional sources, six Iranian intelligence officers, including members of the Iranian-backed Hashd al-Shaabi militia, are training specially selected PKK/YPG terrorists in Iraq and Syria.
Additionally, a Hashd al-Shaabi intelligence officer is organizing the transport of weapons and ammunition for PKK/YPG across various regions of Iraq to Sinjar and Sulaymaniyah, where the organization’s main bases are located.
Security sources have confirmed that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards are offering shelter to PKK/YPG terrorists and facilitating the transfer of weapons and ammunition to Qandil, the organization’s administrative headquarters.
It has also been revealed that 40 PKK/YPG terrorists in Iran received training in operating unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The Iranian Revolutionary Guards are also instructing PKK/YPG terrorists in Iraq and Syria on how to down and locate Turkish army UAVs and UCAVs.
New information highlighted ongoing Iran-PKK cooperation. On June 11, PKK/YPG conducted reconnaissance flights using more than half a dozen Shahed-136 kamikaze UAVs in the Euphrates Shield Region in northern Syria. These UAVs returned because of the active countermeasure systems in place.
Last week, security sources identified a meeting between the Iranian-backed Hashd al-Shaabi militia and PKK leaders at the PKK’s Mahmur camp.
