Hezbollah leader Nasrallah responds to Israel’s attack on communications devices
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has made his first statement following Israel’s attack on communications devices including pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah members in Lebanon.
Nasrallah accused Israel of crossing Hezbollah’s “red lines,” saying, “On Tuesday, the enemy targeted and simultaneously detonated communication devices, disregarding all laws and red lines, showing no respect for humanity or morality.”
Israel attempted to kill 4,000 Hezbollah members
While implicitly acknowledging an intelligence gap concerning the communication devices, Nasrallah stated, “Israel attempted to kill 4,000 people at once by detonating the devices. The enemy knew there were 4,000 devices distributed among Hezbollah members.”
Nasrallah emphasized that civilians were among the victims, noting, “Dozens of our people, including children, were killed, and thousands were injured.”
Labeling the attacks as war crimes, Nasrallah remarked, “Israel is targeting Hezbollah but has struck civilians. This is a war crime and grounds for war.”
Despite admitting a significant blow, Nasrallah stated, “Yes, we have suffered a painful hit, but this is the reality of war. We’ve always acknowledged the enemy’s technological superiority.”
He described the scale of the attack as unprecedented, saying, “In the history of conflict with Israel, and even globally, there has been nothing like this.”
Hezbollah leader emphasizes resilience in face of Israeli aggression
Nasrallah declared that Israel’s recent attacks will not break the group.
“After these latest attacks, we will only grow stronger,” he said, emphasizing the group’s resilience in the face of Israeli aggression.
Nasrallah also accused the U.S. and NATO of backing Israel and added, “We will not rush to respond. We will act with certainty.”
