Here are locations of Israeli strikes that targeted Iran
Israel conducted airstrikes on Iranian military facilities on Saturday, hitting missile manufacturing sites and other military infrastructure in retaliation for Iran’s Oct. 1 missile strike. Israel warned that Tehran would “pay a heavy price” for any further escalation.
Israeli strikes target missile, air defense systems
The Israeli military confirmed that its airstrikes were aimed at Iran’s missile production facilities and surface-to-air missile systems. According to an official statement, these strikes were carried out across several regions, including Iran’s capital, Tehran.
“Based on intelligence, IAF (Israeli Air Force) aircraft struck missile manufacturing facilities used to produce the missiles that Iran fired at Israel over the last year,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said. The military also reported that all aircraft returned safely following the operation.
Israel announced last night that it carried out airstrikes on several locations across Iran. While it remains unclear which specific points were targeted, reports indicate that the Israeli Air Force struck at least 20 sites.
Initial analysis of the available images suggests that Israeli aircraft specifically targeted two Iranian air defense systems. One of the locations housed the Russian-made S-300 air defense system, while the other was the base for the American MIM-23 Hawk air defense system.
The strikes mark a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions between the two countries, raising concerns about further conflict in the region.
Retaliation for Oct. 1 attack
Israel’s response comes after Tehran’s missile strike on Oct. 1, which marked only the second direct attack by Iran on Israeli territory. The strikes have intensified tensions across the region, raising concerns about a broader conflict involving Israel, Iran and Iran-backed forces like Hezbollah and Hamas.
Iran confirms Israeli strikes, minimizes damage
Iranian officials confirmed the Israeli airstrikes, acknowledging that several military sites in Tehran and other provinces were targeted. The Iranian air defense system reportedly intercepted the strikes, which Iran claimed caused “limited damage.”
The escalation in hostilities is seen as part of a broader regional conflict between Israel and what it calls the “axis of resistance,” which includes Iran, Hezbollah and other militant groups.
Escalating conflict raises concerns of wider war
The rapid escalation of violence between Israel and Iran has heightened fears of a wider regional conflict. Iran has vowed to retaliate against what it called Israeli “aggression.” Israeli military officials warned that any further actions from Iran could lead to more retaliatory measures.
