Hamas has commended Jordan and Egypt for opposing proposals to relocate Palestinians from Gaza, a move reportedly supported by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The group stated that the stance taken by the two Arab nations reaffirms efforts to rebuild Gaza without displacing its residents
Hamas applauds ‘Arab Resistance’ to displacement
In a statement issued Wednesday, Hamas expressed appreciation for “the positions of our brothers in Jordan and Egypt in rejecting displacement of our people and affirming that there is an Arab plan to rebuild Gaza without displacing its residents.”
Trump’s proposal suggested “relocating” more than two million Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt and Jordan. However, both countries have strongly opposed the plan, with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi signaling he would not visit Washington if the displacement proposal was on the agenda, according to two Egyptian security sources cited by Reuters.

Mediators push for cease-fire stability
Amid ongoing ceasefire discussions, Qatar and Egypt have been “working intensively” to resolve tensions surrounding the fragile truce in Gaza.
A Palestinian source said that mediators were in close contact with American officials, seeking to ensure Israel adheres to the humanitarian protocol of the ceasefire agreement and initiates talks for a second phase of negotiations.
Tensions escalated further after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened renewed military action if Hamas failed to release hostages by Saturday. “If Hamas does not return our hostages by Saturday noon, the ceasefire will end, and the IDF (Israeli military) will resume intense fighting until Hamas is decisively defeated,” Netanyahu stated.

Macron, China oppose forced displacement
International condemnation of Trump’s proposal has continued to mount. French President Emmanuel Macron criticized the plan, asserting that “Gaza is home to two million people. You cannot simply tell them to leave.”
Speaking to CNN, Macron reaffirmed France’s commitment to Israel’s security but maintained that forced displacement would violate international law.
Similarly, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun rejected the proposal, emphasizing that “Gaza belongs to the Palestinians and is an integral part of the Palestinian territory.” China’s stance aligns with other international voices, including the United Nations, which has warned against actions that could amount to ethnic cleansing.

Jordan and Egypt reaffirm commitment to Palestine
Jordan’s Prime Minister Jafar Hassan reiterated his government’s firm opposition to any forced resettlement of Palestinians. “No resettlement, displacement, and solutions at Jordan’s expense,” Hassan told the Jordanian parliament.
He emphasized that “the solution to the Palestinian cause lies in Palestine, which will remain despite occupation and oppression.”
Meanwhile, Egypt has maintained its stance against accepting displaced Palestinians from Gaza, signaling strong regional opposition to any forced relocation plans.
