Hadid sisters contribute $1M to Gaza aid, advocating for Palestinian cause
Bella and Gigi Hadid, American supermodels of Palestinian origins, have contributed $1 million towards humanitarian aid for Palestinians, the BBC reported on Sunday.
The sisters, along with their father, Mohamed Anwar Hadid, who is of Palestinian descent, have been outspoken in their advocacy for the Palestinian cause. The supermodels frequently post images depicting the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, while expressing their lack of animosity towards the Jewish population.
“My thoughts are with all those affected by this unjustifiable tragedy and every day innocent lives are taken by this conflict — too many of whom are children. I have deep empathy and heartbreak for the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation; it’s a responsibility I hold daily. While I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of a Jewish person,” Gigi Hadid wrote in one of her Instagram posts.
Since October 2023, Israeli airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of over 36,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children.
