Greek Cyprus receives 1st Enok 4.8 AB anti-tank vehicle
Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus (GCASC) has received the first Enok 4.8 AB air transport vehicle from an order for 60 units. The design of this vehicle allows it to be armed with Spike LR2 anti-tank guided missiles.
Greek Cyprus placed an order for this vehicle last year, and it is currently undergoing testing. However, it remains unclear whether all vehicles will carry Spike LR2 missiles.
Germany developed this variant of the Enok vehicle on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class platform as part of its military modernization efforts in the early 2000s. The anti-tank model, named “Tankhunter,” can carry spike-guided missiles and has recently entered mass production.
Greek Cyprus had shown interest in 5th generation anti-tank missiles in 2021 and signed an agreement to purchase Spike LR2 missiles from Israel in 2023. With its advanced range and armor penetration capabilities, the Spike LR2 excels in various war scenarios. The missile can effectively hit targets at ranges up to 5.5 kilometers and has real-time target update capability.
