The Gaza government has warned of a severe hunger threat as Israel has blocked humanitarian and medical aid and closed border crossings for 13 consecutive days.

In a statement from the Gaza Media Office, it was noted that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has worsened, with increasing food and water insecurity, a collapsing healthcare system, and deepening shortages of essential supplies.

The statement emphasized, “The return of hunger and food insecurity is now an undeniable threat.”

Food and water crisis escalates

Approximately 80% of Palestinians have lost access to food sources, while around 25% of Gaza’s bakeries have halted operations, affecting bread production.

At the same time, the blockade on fuel supplies for water wells and purification plants has created a significant crisis in drinking water availability. The government is working to preserve the limited fuel in an attempt to maintain water distribution.

Shortage of medicines and medical supplies

With border crossings closed, finding medicines and medical supplies for about 150,000 chronic patients and the injured has become increasingly difficult.

The shortage of medicines and medical supplies has severely impacted those who are already in critical condition.

Israel’s decision to halt aid entry

Israel decided to halt the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza on March 2. This has also affected essential services such as setting up new camps and providing shelter for displaced families.

Palestinians in Gaza have started using wood instead of gas for cooking, which has health and environmental impacts, contributing to an increase in respiratory diseases.
