Galatasaray player Hakim Ziyech slams Morocco for supporting Israel
Hakim Ziyech, captain of the Moroccan national football team and Galatasaray player, has sparked widespread attention on social media with his post condemning the torture of Palestinian corpses by the Israeli army in the occupied West Bank.
Ziyech shared footage on his social media account showing Israeli soldiers kicking the body of a Palestinian, killed in the occupied West Bank, off a rooftop.
In his post, Ziyech made a strong statement against Israel:
“Let’s make one thing clear. Curse Israel and all countries that support such behavior!”
Criticism of Morocco for Israeli support
In a subsequent post, Ziyech criticized the government of his country for supporting Israel, as well as other world governments.
Hours later, he posted another story clarifying that his previous remarks were also aimed at his own government, symbolized by the Moroccan flag, which he accused of facilitating genocide alongside other nations.
The Moroccan footballer’s post gained significant traction and was widely shared.
Moroccan human rights advocates and journalists praised Ziyech’s bold stance on Instagram.
Journalist Idris et-Tizarni commented, “Ziyech is a man who remains steadfast in his beliefs. I respect this commitment on behalf of all free people in the world.”
Activist Abdulvahhab Musati also voiced support on social media platform X stating, “A true man has convictions, and Ziyech is that man. He spoke the truth. We stand firmly with him.”
However, shortly after his posts, Ziyech removed both of his Instagram stories.
On September 19, Israeli forces killed three Palestinians during a raid in the town of Kabatiya in Jenin, located in northern West Bank.
Footage circulating on social media shows three Israeli soldiers on the roof of the building where the bodies of the deceased Palestinians were located. One soldier is filmed pushing the body of one of the deceased Palestinians toward the edge of the roof with his foot.
Subsequently, the Palestinian’s body is thrown off the roof by the Israeli soldier.
