Former Iranian president Ahmadinejad narrowly escapes assassination attempt
Former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad narrowly evaded an assassination attempt on Monday, July 15, while he was en route to Zanjan for a religious ceremony.
Ahmadinejad’s Toyota Land Cruiser experienced an issue on the Karaj-Qazvin Highway, which led to a high-speed collision.
The vehicle was in an uncontrollable spin, colliding with numerous cars and barriers before finally coming to a halt after striking a Peugeot. A passenger sustained minor injuries.
“Special security agents” allegedly sabotaged Ahmadinejad’s vehicle before returning it to the repair facility, according to sources.
The malfunction was caused by tampering with the vehicle’s steering and brakes.
A malfunctioning air conditioner sent the Toyota for repair, but someone secretly moved it to a different location and sabotaged it.
Ahmadinejad’s security team had sent the vehicle for repairs two days earlier. Ahmadinejad’s office filed complaints with the authorities about the attack and previous threats made following the incident.
The attack did not injure Ahmadinejad.
Ahmadinejad’s office had previously expressed apprehensions regarding potential threats and requested enhanced security.
Ahmadinejad publicly acknowledged the genuine threat of his assassination in March 2021 and safeguarded his information in numerous secure locations.
