FM Fidan meets with HTS leader Ahmed al-Sharaa in Syria’s Damascus

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan meets Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) leader Ahmed al-Sharaa, better known as Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, in Damascus, Syria.
FM Fidan recently revealed plans to meet with Syria’s new leadership in Damascus in the coming period by saying, “Yes, I plan to meet with the new leadership in Damascus.” He said this in his interview with news outlet France24.
According to information obtained from diplomatic sources, Fidan met with al-Sharaa during his visit to Damascus.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yilmaz, Burhan Koroglu, Temporary Charge d’Affaires of the Turkish Embassy in Damascus, and Esaad Hasan Seyban, newly appointed Foreign Minister of the Syrian interim government.
