FM Fidan meets Lebanese counterpart, condemns Israel’s attacks on Lebanon
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan condemned Israel’s attacks on Lebanon as “unacceptable” during a meeting with his Lebanese counterpart, Abdallah Bou Habib, on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York, Turkish diplomatic sources revealed Wednesday.
Fidan expressed Türkiye’s strong opposition to Israel’s actions, stating that Israel “wants to drag the region into chaos.”
He reaffirmed Türkiye’s support for Lebanon and called on the international community to unite in response to the escalating violence.
Turkis medical aid sent to Lebanon
Bou Habib provided Fidan with updates on the latest developments and expressed gratitude for the medical aid Türkiye sent to Lebanon earlier in the day.
Israel and Hezbollah have been engaged in cross-border clashes since the onset of Israel’s military campaign against the Gaza Strip, which has claimed nearly 41,500 lives, mostly women and children, following a Hamas attack on October 7 of last year.
The international community has voiced concern over the conflict spreading beyond Gaza, warning that strikes on Lebanon could further destabilize the region.
