Hamas stated on Saturday that the fate of Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander remains uncertain.

According to the group’s armed wing, they recovered the body of one of their members who had been assigned to guard Alexander, but they do not currently know the status or whereabouts of the hostage or the rest of the unit.

This statement follows an earlier announcement from Hamas in which they said they had lost contact with the unit responsible for holding Alexander after an Israeli airstrike targeted their location in the Gaza Strip.
