US Senator Patty Murray and Representative Pramila Jayapal have urged the Biden administration to launch an independent, US-led investigation into the killing of Turkish American activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi by Israeli forces in the West Bank.

They called for an investigation “immediate, transparent, credible, and thorough,” led by the FBI, to ensure accountability and prevent future incidents.

Eygi’s family also demanded an independent investigation, criticizing Biden’s statement calling her death “a tragic error.”

They urged President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to speak with them directly and order a transparent investigation.

Eygi, a 26-year-old dual national, was killed during a protest against illegal Israeli settlements in Beita near Nablus. She had recently graduated from the University of Washington and was volunteering with the International Solidarity Movement to support Palestinian farmers.
