Armenian troops opened fire on Azerbaijani military positions in Nakhchivan, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry announced Sunday, adding that the former has attacked the latter four times in the last 3 days.

According to the statement issued by the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, at around 12:50 a.m. local time, Armenian troops opened fire from their positions toward the Bardzuni settlement of the Yeghegnnadzor region in the Shada settlement of the Shahbuz region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Azerbaijani troops returned fire in retaliation, the ministry said in a statement.

Azerbaijan and Armenia have been negotiating to sign a permanent peace agreement since the second Karabakh War in 2020.

With the second Karabakh War, Azerbaijan ended the 30-year Armenian occupation in Karabakh and the normalization process started in the region.

However, despite the ongoing negotiations, it is seen that Armenia violates the cease-fire from time to time.
