Aysenur Eygi’s family criticizes Biden, Harris for defending Israeli army
Juliette Majid, spokesperson for the family of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, the Turkish-American citizen killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank, has strongly criticized U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Majid accused them of defending the foreign army that killed her daughter instead of offering condolences to the family.
In a written statement on social media, Majid criticized President Biden and Vice President Harris for their statements supporting the Israeli military instead of addressing Eygi’s death.
“Eygi and her family deserve justice. While the family continues to mourn, President Biden and Vice President Harris chose to defend the foreign army that killed her rather than offer their condolences,” Majid said.
Eygi’s family calls for independent investigation
Majid has called for an independent investigation to determine whether Eygi was deliberately targeted.
President Biden had previously indicated that Israel’s preliminary investigation showed that Eygi’s death was the result of a “tragic mistake,” saying, “Thus, we can trust the outcome.” Biden remarked that Eygi’s death appeared to be an accident, with a bullet accidentally hitting her after ricocheting off the ground.
