The U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, has reported that since Oct. 7, 205 of its humanitarian aid workers have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza.

The statement highlights the severe impact of ongoing Israeli military operations, which have caused significant civilian casualties, widespread displacement, and extensive damage to residential and public infrastructure.

According to the agency, up to 1.9 million people, or 90% of Gaza’s population, are internally displaced, with many having been displaced multiple times.

Health system in Gaza is described as “barely functional,” with 90 hospitals and primary health care centers not operational. Despite these challenges, UNRWA continues to provide essential health services through 10 primary health centers and up to 100 mobile medical units across Gaza.

The situation remains dire, with the Israeli military campaign continuing despite a U.N. Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire. As of now, nearly 39,700 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed, and over 91,700 have been injured since the conflict began.

Israel’s actions have been brought before the International Court of Justice, where it stands accused of genocide. The court has ordered Israel to halt its military operations in Rafah, a southern city where over 1 million Palestinians had sought refuge.
