YouTuber faces backlash for defying Red Beach ban during Santorini seismic activity

A YouTuber, identified as Giannelis, caused a stir on Santorini’s Red Beach by defying the local authorities’ closure orders, following recent landslides caused by earthquakes. In an unexpected visit, Giannelis filmed himself walking along the restricted beach and stated, “I’m a YouTuber, I came to assess the situation.”
Despite the ban, he proceeded to explore the area and spoke to firefighters who had been deployed in response to his presence.

Giannelis risks his life for video content
The Red Beach in Santorini has been closed to the public due to the risk of further landslides, which have been ongoing after multiple earthquakes struck the island. However, this did not deter YouTuber Giannelis from taking matters into his own hands. He boldly walked along the beach, filming his journey and capturing the dangerous conditions.
Giannelis explained in his video that he had come to check if the landslides were as serious as reported. He added, “You have to see it for yourself to believe it.”
‘Don’t try this’: YouTuber admits danger
As he proceeded along the beach, Giannelis acknowledged the perilous conditions, telling his viewers, “This is very brave, but if you see the rocks after a series of earthquakes, you should start to… worry.” He warned others to avoid attempting a similar visit, despite his own daring actions. “If there’s any beach left after this video, I hope I’m still here to talk about it,” he continued.
In the video, Giannelis captures the beauty of nature, noting that while the landscape is stunning, visitors might not realize the inherent dangers. “Nature’s magic is such that people may not think about the risks,” he reflected.

Encounter with firefighters
During his walk, Giannelis encountered firefighters monitoring the area. When they approached him, he calmly explained, “I came to assess the situation, I’m a YouTuber.” Giannelis admitted that his actions could be considered foolish, but he made it clear that the firefighters were not to blame. “They are just doing their job, if there are fools like me making videos, it’s not their fault.”
Despite the obvious risks involved, Giannelis continued filming his video, adding a mix of humor and recklessness as he interacted with the firefighters.
