UK ambassador praises Türkiye’s health sector, sees great potential for cooperation
The U.K. Ambassador to Türkiye, Jill Morris, commended Türkiye’s health care sector as “very robust” and highlighted the significant potential for collaboration between the two countries during an event in Istanbul on Thursday.
The event was hosted by the Turkish Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), the Health Business Council and the U.K. Consulate General.
Strategic alliance between Türkiye and UK
In her speech, Morris underscored the strategic alliance between Türkiye and the U.K., noting that existing partnerships in sectors such as clean energy and environmental issues have paved the way for further cooperation.
She expressed optimism about expanding collaboration in security, health, and wellness, all aimed at benefiting the citizens of both nations.
“The health care sector in Türkiye is very robust and continues to advance,” Morris remarked, adding that cooperation in this field has “great potential.”
Bilateral trade and health care investment
Mehmet Altug, head of DEIK’s Health Business Council, stressed the importance of the Türkiye-U.K. Free Trade Agreement in enhancing bilateral commerce. He advocated for the inclusion of health services in joint investments, mentioning Turkish companies’ growing interest in U.K. health services and technologies.
Altug also emphasized the need to explore scientific and technological advancements, particularly the role of artificial intelligence in transforming the health care sector.
