Türkiye’s universities shine in global rankings: METU, BOUN and others in top 500

Middle East Technical University (METU) URAP, one of the authoritative institutions worldwide ranking universities, has released its report titled “Universities’ Performance in 11 Global Rankings in 2023,” accessible at “http://www.urapcenter.org“.
According to the report, Turkish universities Koc, Bogazici (BOUN), Sabanci, Cankaya, Istanbul, ODTU, Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Hacettepea and University of Health Sciences universities were ranked within the top 500 in at least one global ranking last year.
Among them,
- Koc University appeared in 3 rankings: QS 431, RUR 384, and THE 375; ODTU in 3 rankings: QS 336, RUR 382, THE 375;
- ITU in 2 rankings: QS 404, RUR 385;
- Bogazici University in US NEWS & WORLD REPORT: 377;
- Sabanci University in THE: 375;
- Cankaya University in US NEWS & WORLD REPORT: 173;
- Istanbul University in ARWU: 450;
- Hacettepe University in Leiden: 410; and
- University of Health Sciences in Leiden: 449.
Thus, in 2023, ODTU, Bogazici, Hacettepe, ITU, and Istanbul universities, as research universities, entered the top 500.
Six universities entered all 11 global rankings.
The report also provides information on Turkish universities that ranked outside the top 500 in different lists.
Hacettepe, ITU, Ankara, Istanbul, Ege and Gazi universities achieved success by appearing in all 11 global rankings.
BOUN, METU, Koc, Bilkent, and Erciyes universities appeared in 10 out of 11 global rankings.
Marmara, Yildiz Technical, Dokuz Eylul, Ataturk, Gebze Technical, Sakarya and Suleyman Demirel universities found a place in nine rankings.
Bursa Uludag, Sabanci, Cukurova, Firat, Akdeniz, Eskisehir Osmangazi, and Kocaeli universities, along with Izmir Institute of Technology, appeared in eight rankings.
Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa, Selcuk, Van Yuzuncu Yil, Cankaya, Istanbul Bilgi, Istanbul Aydin, TOBB Economics and Technology, Karadeniz Technical, Anadolu, 19 Mayis, Inonu, Baskent, and Pamukkale universities were featured in seven rankings.
